Dauda emerged victorious with a total of 12,139 votes. His closest rival, Oyenkwelu Nnamdi Vincent of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), trailed far behind with just 457 votes
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially declared Akeem Dauda, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Chairmanship Election for Ikeja Local Government.
The announcement was made by the Returning Officer for Ikeja Local Government, Mr. Salami Ojo, who revealed that Dauda emerged victorious with a total of 12,139 votes. His closest rival, Oyenkwelu Nnamdi Vincent of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), trailed far behind with just 457 votes.
Dauda’s victory was particularly emphatic in his polling unit, located in Anifiwoshe Ward D, where he secured 2,726 votes, compared to a meagre 61 votes garnered by the PDP candidate. The outcome reflected not only a personal triumph for Dauda but also a broader show of strength for the APC in the Ikeja area.
The APC’s dominance in Ikeja was further reinforced as the party won all six councillorship seats across the six wards in the local government, achieving a clean sweep in the election.
Following the declaration of results, the chairman-elect, Akeem Dauda, expressed deep appreciation to the residents of Ikeja for their overwhelming support and participation in the electoral process.
He underscored the importance of active civic engagement in sustaining democratic governance and assured constituents of his commitment to serve with integrity, dedication, and transparency.
“I am deeply humbled by the trust and confidence the people of Ikeja have placed in me. I assure you all that I will not disappoint,” Dauda remarked, pledging to uphold the responsibilities entrusted to him.
With the conclusion of the election, the APC has not only solidified its control over Ikeja Local Government but has also reaffirmed its political dominance in the state’s grassroots governance structure.
