The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully carried out  a successful airstrike operation that neutralized several terrorists near Yarbuga village in the Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The operation, which took place on Tuesday, July 9, 2025, was launched after real-time intelligence reports revealed the movement of a large convoy of terrorists.

Intelligence sources confirmed that nearly 150 motorcycles, each carrying an average of two armed insurgents, were spotted advancing through the area.

Acting swiftly on the information, NAF deployed air assets to intercept the convoy. According to the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Ehimen Ejodame, the air raid was executed with “devastating precision” following a positive identification of the targets.

“NAF aircraft engaged the convoy with devastating accuracy after confirming the hostile presence,” Ejodame said. “The airstrike disrupted the terrorists’ formation, and many of them were seen fleeing on foot and on motorcycles.”

Persistent surveillance was maintained throughout the operation, with follow-up strikes launched to block potential escape routes and neutralize the fleeing insurgents. The coordinated air assault effectively destabilized the terrorist convoy and left the survivors in disarray.

In the aftermath of the bombardment, ground troops were deployed on a follow-up mission to the area. Ejodame confirmed that troops conducted a sweep of Yarbuga village in the early hours of Wednesday, July 10, 2025.

“At the scene, the remains of scores of terrorists were discovered alongside their weapons and several burnt motorcycles,” he stated, underscoring the scale and success of the joint air-to-ground effort.

The military has vowed to sustain the momentum in its counterterrorism campaign across Zamfara and neighboring regions, ensuring that insurgents find no safe haven in the country.
