Romanian Liga II side FC Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara have completed the signing of two promising Nigerian footballers, Emmanuel Okoro and Muhammed Hayatu, in a move that highlights the club’s growing commitment to developing international talent.
The club, based in the city of Hunedoara and competing in Romania’s second-tier league, announced the transfers via an official statement on their website on Thursday.
“The two Nigerian players have joined our squad in the cantonment of Mönichkirchen! At just 18 years of age, they have signed agreements with our club and are experiencing Romanian football for the first time. Emmanuel plays as a central striker, while Muhammed can operate effectively on the left wing,” the club said in the statement.
Fresh Nigerian Talent Set for European Challenge

Emmanuel Okoro, known for his goal-scoring instinct and sharp movement in attack, rose to prominence after starring for Lagos State University (LASU) during the 11th All African University Games. The event, co-hosted by LASU and the University of Lagos (UNILAG), saw Okoro emerge as one of the standout performers, catching the attention of scouts across the continent.

Muhammed Hayatu, a pacy and skillful winger, has been praised for his versatility, creativity on the flanks, and ability to deliver dangerous crosses from wide areas. His technical ability and attacking flair are expected to provide added depth and unpredictability to Corvinul’s offense.

The duo’s move marks their first professional experience in European football, and both players are determined to make the most of the opportunity. Their arrival at the Mönichkirchen training camp signals their integration into the squad ahead of the upcoming Liga II season.
Corvinul’s Vision and Nigerian Connection
FC Corvinul’s decision to invest in young African talent reflects a growing trend among Eastern European clubs, who are increasingly looking toward West Africa for raw, dynamic players with high developmental potential.

The signings of Okoro and Hayatu add to the list of Nigerian prospects making their way into European leagues and could pave the way for further partnerships between Nigerian academies and Romanian clubs.
With the new Liga II season set to kick off soon, all eyes will be on how the young Nigerians adapt to European football and contribute to Corvinul’s ambitions of securing promotion to Liga I.
