The Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) has announced that all is set for the second edition of its annual Transportation Summit, scheduled to take place in Lagos. The event, a key industry gathering, aims to tackle the persistent challenges within Nigeria’s transportation and logistics sectors while highlighting their pivotal role in driving national economic development.

In a statement signed by TCAN Chairman, Tola Adenubi, the association revealed that the 2025 summit would build on the momentum of its highly successful maiden edition held in 2024. This year’s event will revolve around the theme: “Driving the Transport Logistics Value Chains for Economic Growth.”
According to Adenubi, the summit will bring together top stakeholders, industry experts, and policymakers to foster dialogue and collaboration aimed at enhancing the efficiency, security, and sustainability of Nigeria’s transport systems. He emphasized that the summit was curated to provide an inclusive platform for addressing core logistics issues affecting multiple sectors of the economy.
“This summit was designed to spotlight the most pressing issues in our nation’s transportation landscape,” said Adenubi. “Following the positive feedback from last year’s edition, we’ve curated a strong lineup of speakers and topics to help chart a path forward for a more integrated and efficient transport network across the country.”
A key highlight of the event will be the keynote address by Dr. Kayode Opeifa, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation. Opeifa, a seasoned transportation technocrat, is expected to share valuable insights into the evolving landscape of rail transport and the integration of rail with other logistics value chains.
In addition, panel discussions will be held featuring sector leaders and experts who will dissect critical issues ranging from road infrastructure to multimodal integration, port efficiency, inland container depots, and the role of digital technologies in modern logistics operations. The panel sessions are strategically designed to generate actionable insights and sustainable policy recommendations.
Notable guests expected at the summit include the Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, both of whom are expected to serve as special guests. Their presence signals strong government interest in partnering with the private sector and industry experts to find practical solutions to the nation’s logistics bottlenecks.
Adenubi called on transportation firms, freight operators, and logistics companies to take full advantage of the summit to showcase their innovations, exchange ideas, and network with key decision-makers.
“This platform is not just about identifying problems. It’s about forging practical partnerships and promoting the role of transport and logistics in economic recovery and long-term growth,” he said.
The summit, according to TCAN, is not only a reflection of the growing importance of the transport sector to Nigeria’s economic resilience but also a step towards building a modern logistics ecosystem capable of supporting industrialization, trade facilitation, and regional integration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
As TCAN sets the stage for another impactful summit, stakeholders across the public and private sectors are expected to converge in Lagos with one goal: to drive meaningful reforms and sustainable investments across Nigeria’s transport and logistics value chains.
