The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly refuted recent claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as unfounded, deceptive, and a desperate attempt to divert public attention from the internal disarray within the opposition party.
The ADC, through its Interim National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, had on Monday issued a statement alleging that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC were engaged in a clandestine plot to destabilize the opposition coalition.
Citing what it termed “credible intelligence,” the ADC claimed that federal government officials had summoned some of its state chairmen from the North-East and North-West zones to a secret meeting, where they were allegedly pressured, coerced, and intimidated.
However, in a swift response issued on Tuesday in Abuja, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, vehemently denied the allegations.

He accused the ADC of deliberately engaging in deceitful tactics, likening its conduct to the familiar strategy adopted by other opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP).
Morka criticized the ADC’s failure to provide any concrete evidence to back up its claims, noting that the vague and ambiguous nature of the accusations rendered them baseless.
“Beyond its sensational accusations, the ADC has not provided a single shred of evidence or identified any federal government official involved in the supposed meeting.
Its reference to a ‘secret meeting’ and ‘credible intelligence’ only highlights its intention to mislead the public and manipulate national sentiment,” he said.
He further asserted that no such meeting ever took place, dismissing the claims as pure fiction from the “warped imagination” of those he described as “masters of deception” and “political marauders.”
Morka did not stop there. He turned his attention to the ADC’s internal leadership crisis, describing the party as a house in disarray, plagued by internal contradictions, discord, and egocentric leadership.
“The ADC needs no help from our great party to implode. It is already grappling with the consequences of its gestapo-style leadership takeover, which has alienated genuine leaders and loyal members within its ranks,” he stated.
He likened the ADC’s condition to the story of Humpty Dumpty, saying the party is on a path of inevitable collapse and is merely creating preemptive excuses for its failure.
“Their statement is a calculated ploy to mask their own incompetence and inability to manage the political coalition they hijacked. Like the other opposition parties they’ve infiltrated and destabilized before, the ADC is heading for the same tragic end.”
In a scathing critique of the coalition within the ADC, Morka questioned the credibility and capacity of its leading figures, describing them as “a collection of the country’s most inept politicians, architects of misrule, and champions of corruption and underdevelopment.”
“What do Nigerians stand to gain from a group of failed presidential contenders, driven only by personal ambition and vendettas?” he asked.
“The ADC has failed to articulate any meaningful governance blueprint. Its only strategy appears to be hurling baseless accusations at the APC and tarnishing the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration.”
Highlighting recent strides made under President Tinubu, Morka asserted that the current government had set Nigeria on a path of economic transformation and national revitalization—achievements he said no member of the ADC coalition could rival.
He went on to criticize notable opposition figures associated with the ADC coalition, stating: “Mr. Peter Obi once promised to serve only a single four-year term and fly commercial airlines if elected, yet during the 2023 election campaign, he traveled in private jets and conducted a lavish campaign.
Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, whose performance as former FCT Minister pales in comparison to the infrastructural development achieved under the current Minister, Nyesom Wike.
Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s lackluster tenure as Interior Minister stands in stark contrast to the innovative reforms of his successor, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Hadi Sirika’s controversial stint as Aviation Minister, marked by scandals and the failed launch of a phantom Nigerian Air, looks even more dismal beside the improvements now witnessed under Festus Keyamo, SAN.”
Concluding his remarks, Morka declared that none of the ADC coalition’s key players possessed the vision, credibility, experience, or patriotic drive to surpass the record of President Tinubu, whom he praised for his ongoing efforts to reconstruct Nigeria’s economy and governance structures.
“The Nigerian electorate is wise and discerning. The ADC’s deceitful tactics will not prevail. Their aim to lie their way into power will fail,” Morka stated emphatically.
