I remain grateful for the experience and relationships built during my time with the party – Ismail Aliyu Makarfi

As political realignments continue to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape, a key figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and member of the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 general elections, Hon. Ismail Aliyu Makarfi, has officially resigned from the ruling party.

Hon. Makarfi, who previously served as the Commissioner for Finance in Kaduna State, tendered his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC ward chairman in Makarfi, Kaduna State.

While the letter did not explicitly state the reasons for his decision, political observers believe it may be linked to the growing wave of defections and strategic repositioning across the country ahead of future elections.

In the letter, Makarfi expressed his appreciation for the time spent within the party, noting, “I remain grateful for the experience and relationships built during my time with the party.”

His departure is seen as significant, given his extensive involvement and contributions to the APC both at the state and national levels.

During the 2023 general elections, Makarfi played a crucial role in securing electoral victories for President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani. His influence and efforts were instrumental in galvanizing support for the APC in key constituencies.

His exit marks a pivotal moment in Kaduna politics, where he has long been recognized as a grassroots mobilizer and respected political strategist.

His departure is expected to stir further political discussions in the state, especially as more notable figures across the country reconsider their affiliations.

As the APC grapples with internal discontent and mounting defections, Makarfi’s resignation underscores the evolving nature of Nigeria’s political alliances and the uncertainties that lie ahead for the ruling party.

Yesterday, the Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF)Engineer Babachir David Lawal,  formally announced his resignation from the ruling APC, drawing a final curtain on his long-standing association with the party.

In a resignation letter dated June 29, addressed to the Chairman of the APC in Bangshika Ward, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Lawal stated that his departure from the party takes immediate effect. He noted that he would announce his next political move soon.
