Super Eagles legend and newly appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, Ahmed Musa, has vowed to restore the club’s past glory and reposition it as one of Africa’s elite football institutions.
Musa made the commitment during a familiarisation meeting with the club’s Chairman, Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar, and other board members on Monday in Kano. His remarks were detailed in a statement released by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate on Tuesday.
The former Leicester City, CSKA Moscow, and Al Nassr forward, who is also captain of the Nigerian national team, pledged to work with all stakeholders to revive the fortunes of the iconic club and return it to the summit of Nigerian and continental football.
“Kano Pillars is our club and one of the most successful in Nigeria, but in recent years, the story has changed,” Musa said.
“I want to assure everyone here that with your support and the backing of the board members, I will do everything possible to reposition the club and make it one of the finest—not just in Africa, but globally.
Having played here and with the experience I gained in Europe, I believe I can contribute meaningfully to help the club achieve its full potential.”
Musa emphasized that the road to success would require unity of purpose, professionalism, and total commitment from everyone involved—management, players, supporters, and corporate partners.
Leadership Backed by Experience and Vision
Kano Pillars, a four-time Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champion, is one of the country’s most storied football clubs. However, recent seasons have been marred by inconsistency, relegation battles, and administrative challenges.
Musa’s return in a managerial capacity marks a new chapter for the club, as he brings not only a wealth of experience from top-flight football but also a deep emotional connection to Pillars, where he rose to prominence before his move abroad.
His appointment was recently approved by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, as part of broader efforts to reform and modernise the state-owned club in line with international best practices.
