The defendants were brought before Justice Mojisola Dada on a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy and theft of funds belonging to Just Kings and Real Kings Nigeria Limited.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday re-arraigned five members of the same family before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja over allegations of stealing N242.391 million from their employer.

The defendants — Chisom Obiakor, Daniel Obiakor, Anthony Obiakor, Precious Nwokemodo, and Ifeanyi Nwokemodo — were brought before Justice Mojisola Dada on a seven-count charge bordering on conspiracy and theft of funds belonging to Just Kings and Real Kings Nigeria Limited.

The re-arraignment followed the reassignment of the case by the Chief Judge of Lagos State, who withdrew the matter from Justice Rahman Oshodi’s court and transferred it to Justice Dada.

According to the EFCC prosecutor, Anita Imo, the primary suspect, Chisom Obiakor, who was employed by the complainant company, allegedly diverted goods valued at N242.391 million.

The proceeds, Imo claimed, were traced to her family members, including her father, brother, sister, and brother-in-law.

The court was informed that Chisom’s father, Daniel Obiakor, allegedly received N10 million from the stolen funds. Her sister, Precious Nwokemodo, was said to have received N24.5 million, while her brother, Anthony Obiakor, got N10 million. Her brother-in-law, Ifeanyi Nwokemodo, reportedly received N400,000.

The prosecutor further alleged that the offences occurred between January 1, 2021, and September 14, 2022. The acts, she stated, contravened Section 328(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and are punishable under the same provision.

Following their pleas, the defendants’ lawyer requested bail on their behalf. Justice Dada granted the application, allowing the accused persons to continue under the bail conditions earlier granted by Justice Ijelu, with the exception of the fifth defendant, Ifeanyi Nwokemodo, who was denied bail.

The case was subsequently adjourned until November 3, 2025, for trial.
