Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has firmly refuted widespread rumours suggesting he is planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He reiterated his unwavering loyalty to the party and reaffirmed his role as its leader in the state.
In a statement released on Saturday, July 5, Governor Adeleke addressed the growing speculation surrounding his political future, describing such rumours as baseless and misleading. He urged the general public and supporters to disregard the false narratives being circulated.

“I want to assure the good people of Osun State and Nigerians at large that I remain a devoted member and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State,” the governor declared.
The clarification followed a wave of social media reports and political commentary insinuating that the governor might be considering aligning with other parties.
Notably, some reports had linked him with a potential move to the All Progressives Congress (APC) or a newly forming coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has recently attracted the interest of various opposition figures.

Governor Adeleke disclosed that he had been inundated with calls and messages from concerned individuals in response to these claims.
He used the opportunity to reassure citizens of his continued dedication to good governance and the implementation of his administration’s development blueprint.
“My focus is solely on delivering on the mandate given to me by the people. We remain committed to our five-point development agenda for Osun State,” he emphasized.
“Please ignore the fake news and continue to support our collective mission of building a prosperous and people-oriented Osun.”
Political analysts believe the rumours may be fuelled by ongoing internal divisions within the PDP, as well as recent defections by notable party figures.
Given that Governor Adeleke’s tenure ends in 2026 and he is widely expected to seek re-election during the off-cycle governorship election slated for August 8 of that year, some have speculated that he may be evaluating alternative political strategies.
However, with this latest statement, Adeleke has sought to put such speculations to rest and focus public attention on his administration’s priorities.
