The home-based Super Eagles are set to resume camping in Ikenne, Ogun State on Monday 7th July, 2025 as preparations ramp up for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The team’s technical crew, led by Coach Eric Chelle has reportedly arrived to make final arrangements ahead of the players’ arrival. The official list of invited players is expected to be released in the next hours, with several standout performers from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) tipped to make the cut.

The Ikenne camp will mark the start of an intensive training programme as Nigeria seeks to make a strong return to the CHAN tournament after missing the last three editions. The squad is expected to play a series of test matches during the camping period, including possible international friendlies, to fine-tune tactics and build team chemistry.

Nigeria qualified for the 2025 CHAN by defeating regional rivals Ghana in a tightly contested West African derby, securing their place in the tournament for the first time since 2018. The Super Eagles B, who finished as runners-up in the 2018 edition, will be hoping to go one step further this time around.

Drawn into Group D, Nigeria will face a tough test against Congo, Sudan, and Senegal, with their opening match scheduled against the Teranga Lions on August 5. The group is widely regarded as one of the most competitive in the tournament.

The 2025 CHAN, exclusively reserved for players plying their trade in domestic leagues across the continent, will be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Morocco—marking the first time in the tournament’s history that it will be co-hosted by three nations.

The tournament will kick off on August 2, with hosts Tanzania taking on Burkina Faso in the opening fixture. On August 3, co-hosts Kenya will face DR Congo, while Morocco will begin their campaign against Angola. Other opening-round fixtures include Madagascar vs Mauritania.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to announce further logistical details about the team’s preparations in the coming days, with fans hopeful that the Super Eagles B can restore national pride and challenge for the continental crown once more.
