Anna Camp, beloved for her roles in Pitch Perfect, You, and True Blood, is speaking candidly after her public debut with girlfriend Jade Whipkey, a stylist and writer 18 years her junior. Their red carpet appearance at the Bride Hard premiere sparked widespread attention—and sparked debates over the age difference. But Camp is setting the record straight—and showing how love, respect, and maturity far outweigh controversy.

Following the June 18 premiere in Los Angeles, LGBTQ+ outlet PinkNews posted footage of the couple highlighting their ages—42 (Camp) and 24 (Whipkey). Some online commentators voiced concerns:

“Just cuz they are gay doesn’t excuse the weird ahh age gap.”
“A 42-year-old with a 24-year-old? That is too much.”
“It’s about power or control.”

In response, Camp personally addressed the criticism in the comments:

“I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them.
We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion…and I’m wishing everyone well 🙂 Especially this Pride month.”

This heartfelt reply won praise, shifting the conversation toward mutual respect and authentic connection.

Camp came out publicly in February via TikTok, with Whipkey by her side, recounting past disastrous dates—now blissfully dating a woman:

“I don’t expect anything… not anymore, because I like women, and it’s great.”

She has since expressed gratitude for the LGBTQ+ community’s support, saying she feels “welcomed and loved.”

Longtime friend Pitch Perfect alum Rebel Wilson has been unwavering in her encouragement. Camp praised her as “the most supportive out of everyone” during this time of self-discovery.

Their reunion on Bride Hard deepened their bond, with the duo playing off each other’s humor and spirit behind the scenes.

Styled emerging talent, Jade Whipkey has worked with celebrities like Keke Palmer, Lena Waithe, and Coco Jones. Beyond styling, she also writes and shares meaningful social content.

Her heartfelt Instagram tribute to Camp—“Her smile is a poem, her eyes are roses…”—captured the admiration at the core of their connection.

The relationship has prompted broader reflection on age differences in queer partnerships. As one supporter noted:

“Age gaps in queer relationships are very common…and don’t often elicit the same power imbalances as hetero relationships…”

An opinion piece in The Guardian used their story to explore societal attitudes, urging readers to consider maturity and emotional equity over simple age math.
