The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled “Born Winners” as the official slogan for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to kick off this Saturday in Morocco. The theme is designed as a powerful tribute to the resilience, ambition, and leadership of African women shaping the future of football on and off the pitch.
CAF revealed the slogan in a visually striking video shared across its official social media platforms on Tuesday evening. The promotional clip featured members of Nigeria’s 2016 WAFCON-winning squad, as well as current Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie, depicted in both her medical attire and national team kit—symbolising the dual excellence of African women in sport and society.

In a detailed statement published on its website today, CAF described “Born Winners” as more than a slogan, calling it a declaration of identity and purpose.
“Born Winners is a tribute to the spirit of African women who embody victory — in sport, in society, and in every corner of life,” CAF stated.
According to the continental body, the theme celebrates women who have consistently shown resilience, purpose, and leadership, from grassroots pioneers to global icons, across cities and rural communities alike.
“From the streets of Dakar to the stadiums of Johannesburg, from grassroots heroes to global stars, these women rise, relentlessly and fearlessly,” the statement added.
CAF also emphasised that the slogan reflects not only on-field excellence but also broader societal impact.
“Resilience is the unshakable drive to rise, even when the odds are against you.
Ambition is the courage to break new ground, on and off the pitch.
Legacy is the influence that echoes through generations, transforming communities and changing lives,” it said.
The launch of the campaign has drawn comparisons with “Mission X”, the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) own rallying cry for the Super Falcons, introduced in June as the team aims to win a record-extending 10th WAFCON title. While CAF’s campaign resonates continent-wide, both initiatives share a common goal: empowering African women through football.
The football governing body added that the “Born Winners” slogan is inspired by real-life stories of triumph, emphasising that it signals an era of purpose-driven leadership, pride, and power across African women’s football.
As anticipation builds for the 11th edition of WAFCON, Nigeria are drawn in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.

The Super Falcons begin their title defence on Sunday, July 6, against Tunisia at the Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
