U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday, July 1, that Israel has accepted the key terms of a proposed 60-day ceasefire in the ongoing Gaza conflict. Trump stated that the ball is now in Hamas’ court, urging the Palestinian militant group to seize the opportunity and agree to the deal.

Writing on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump emphasized that during the two-month truce, the United States would collaborate with all concerned parties to work toward a permanent resolution of the crisis. He stressed the urgency and gravity of the moment, warning Hamas not to reject the offer.

“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better – IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE,” Trump posted, underscoring the high stakes involved.

As part of ongoing diplomatic efforts, mediators from Qatar and Egypt—two countries that have played pivotal roles in previous negotiations—will present this updated proposal to Hamas for consideration.

The contents of the proposal remain confidential, but sources say it includes humanitarian provisions and mechanisms to reduce hostilities in the region.

Trump also revealed that American envoys held extensive and productive discussions with Israeli officials on Tuesday, aimed at finalizing the framework for the ceasefire. Despite the developments, there has been no official response from the Israeli government regarding the outcome of the meeting.

This announcement comes shortly after Trump first hinted at the possibility of a breakthrough in ceasefire negotiations last week. In a further show of commitment to resolving the crisis, Trump is scheduled to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington next week, where the Gaza war is expected to dominate the agenda.

The former president reiterated on Tuesday that he remains optimistic a formal agreement could be reached during that meeting, signaling potential diplomatic progress in the weeks ahead.

For several weeks, the U.S. has been engaged in behind-the-scenes diplomacy, advocating for a phased peace plan that would begin with a 60-day cessation of hostilities. The international community continues to monitor developments closely, as both regional and global stakeholders hope for a de-escalation of violence in the Gaza Strip.
