The federal delegation—tasked with receiving his remains and representing the Nigerian government at the funeral—left Nigeria late Sunday and arrived in Madinah in the early hours of Monday.
Nigeria is paying final respects to one of its most iconic business leaders and elder statesmen, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, as a high-level government delegation arrives in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ahead of his burial in the holy city of Madinah today, Tuesday.
Alhaji Dantata, who died at the age of 94 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, was a towering figure in Nigeria’s commercial and philanthropic circles. He was renowned for his deep commitment to national development, religious devotion, and humanitarian work.
The federal delegation—tasked with receiving his remains and representing the Nigerian government at the funeral—left Nigeria late Sunday and arrived in Madinah in the early hours of Monday.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by Rabbi Ibrahim, Special Assistant to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, it was revealed that the delegation is led by the Minister of Defence and former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar.
Other members of the delegation include the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN); Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and Minister of State for Housing Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.
Also present are respected Islamic scholars and clerics, who will participate in the religious rites. These include Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, the Imam of the Dantata Mosque in Abuja.
The Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah, headed by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, is coordinating local arrangements for the funeral, which will be conducted in line with Islamic traditions later today.
Alhaji Dantata’s passing has drawn a wave of tributes from leaders, business associates, religious figures, and citizens across Nigeria and beyond. His legacy of entrepreneurship, spiritual leadership, and national service continues to inspire generations.
