
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to unveil a new trophy for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in Morocco.
This announcement comes just days before the launch, with the tournament itself scheduled to take place from July 5 to 26 in Morocco. According to CAF, the new trophy is part of President Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s vision to grow and develop women’s football in Africa.
“The new TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Trophy will be launched on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in Morocco, the host nation for this year’s event,” CAF stated.
The launch will be a significant moment for African women’s football, symbolizing the continued growth and development of the sport across the continent.
Following the digital launch, an activation event with sponsors TotalEnergies will take place in the evening, further highlighting the importance of partnerships in promoting women’s football.
This year’s WAFCON tournament promises to be an exciting event, with 12 teams competing for the coveted title. The competition has also seen a significant increase in prize money, from $975,000 in the previous edition to $2,400,000.
The host nation, Morocco, is placed in Group A alongside Zambia, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Eleven-time winners Nigeria are in a challenging group with Botswana, Tunisia, and Algeria, while defending champions South Africa are in Group C with Ghana, Mali, and Tanzania.
