In a show of solidarity with Israel, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has voiced his support for the country’s surprise attack on Iran, sparking concerns of further escalation in the region. Meanwhile, Iran has warned of severe repercussions should Israel repeat its aggression.

Iran warns of a strong and crushing response to any repeated Israeli aggression, citing doubts over Israel’s commitment to the ceasefire and readiness to defend its interests.

According to Iranian judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir, Israel’s attack on Evin Prison in Tehran on June 23 killed at least 71 people, including administrative staff, youth doing their military service, detainees, family members of detainees, and neighbors who lived in the prison’s vicinity.

This incident has further strained relations between Iran and Israel, with Iran’s military chief questioning Israel’s commitment to a ceasefire.

Abdolrahim Mousavi, chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, expressed serious doubts about Israel’s adherence to its commitments, stating, “Since we have complete doubts about the enemy’s [Israel’s] adherence to its commitments, including the ceasefire, we are prepared to give it a strong response if it repeats the aggression.” This statement underscores the deep-seated mistrust between the two nations.

In Gaza, the situation remains dire, with Israeli forces killing at least 60 people on Saturday, including nine children in an attack on Gaza City’s Tuffah neighborhood.

Hospital sources report that hunger continues to stalk the territory, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis. The Israeli army claims to have killed senior Hamas figure Hakham Muhammad Issa al-Issa in fighting in Gaza City, although Hamas has not commented on this development.

The Gaza conflict has resulted in a staggering death toll of at least 56,412 people and wounded 133,054 since October 2023, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The October 7 attacks led to an estimated 1,139 deaths in Israel and over 200 taken captive.

Meanwhile, former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has called for Benjamin Netanyahu’s resignation, stating that it is “too much” and “not healthy” that Netanyahu “has been in power for 20 years.”

Bennett added that Netanyahu “bears heavy responsibility for the divisions in Israeli society” and “must go.” This criticism reflects growing rifts within Israel under Netanyahu’s leadership.

Internationally, Germany’s Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has expressed support for Israel’s attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, describing the Iranian nuclear program as “a real threat to Israel’s right to exist and also a threat well beyond, a threat for Europe as well.” Tehran maintains that its nuclear program is for purely civilian purposes.

As tensions continue to rise, the international community watches closely, aware that any miscalculation could lead to further escalation and devastating consequences for the region.
