The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has officially declared controversial Nigerian musician, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, wanted for serious criminal allegations.

According to a statement released by the agency on Friday, June 27, 2025, the singer is being sought in connection with multiple offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. The agency appealed to members of the public to come forward with any useful information regarding his whereabouts.

“Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, is wanted in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately. Call: 07030000203. Email: info@naptip.gov.ng. Shortcode: 627. Let’s work together to ensure justice is served,” the statement read.

The development follows Speed Darlington’s refusal to honour a prior invitation by NAPTIP for questioning. The agency had summoned him to appear at its headquarters in Abuja after a disturbing video surfaced online, in which the artist claimed to have had sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl in a hotel.

The video quickly went viral and sparked widespread condemnation from Nigerians across various platforms, many of whom accused the artist of statutory rape. The uproar prompted NAPTIP to initiate a probe into the matter.

In the midst of the public backlash, Speed Darlington attempted to downplay the seriousness of his comments. He later retracted the claim, saying it was merely a publicity stunt designed to draw attention to his music.

However, the situation took a new turn when social commentator Isaac Fayose revealed that the minor referenced in the video is now planning to formally file a complaint with the police, further intensifying legal pressure on the embattled singer.

As the case unfolds, NAPTIP continues to urge the public to assist in locating the artist so that proper legal action can be taken. The agency has reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice, especially in cases involving sexual abuse and online exploitation.
