The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that its aircraft, operating under Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 1, conducted a series of precision airstrikes between June 24 and June 26, 2025, targeting terrorist elements responsible for recent deadly attacks in Niger State.

This military action came in the wake of a brutal assault by terrorists on June 24, 2025, which left 17 soldiers dead and 10 others injured in the North-Central state.

The attack had prompted an urgent tactical response by Nigerian security forces to forestall further threats and restore security in the affected communities.

In an official statement released by the NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Ehimen Ejodame, the airstrikes were based on credible intelligence reports and coordinated through inter-service and inter-agency collaboration.

The intelligence indicated terrorist activities, including violent raids and cattle rustling, particularly in the Kakihun and Kumbashi communities.

According to Air Commodore Ejodame, the Air Component promptly deployed air assets to the identified locations, executing multiple waves of precision strikes that resulted in the neutralisation of dozens of terrorists, the destruction of their logistical infrastructure, and the disruption of their regrouping attempts.

He emphasized that the success of the mission demonstrated the professionalism, agility, and combat readiness of the Nigerian Air Force, as well as its seamless coordination with ground forces and sister agencies.

Reassuring the public, Air Commodore Ejodame reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to defending national sovereignty, protecting the lives and property of all Nigerians, and ensuring sustainable peace and stability across the country.
