Soun and Okere Put Supremacy Rumours to Rest with Warm Greetings

Royal Amity Shines today in Ibadan as The Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye Orumogege, and the Okere of Saki, Oba Khalid Olabisi Oyeniyi, exchanged warm greetings at the launch of a book, “Know Oyo State” in Ibadan, putting rumors of a supremacy battle between them to rest.

Ireport24news reporter Omolola, who was at the venue of the event explained that The Soun entered the Emeritus Professor Bayo Ogunlesi Hall to a warm reception, where he met the Okere and was seated beside him. The Okere initiated a warm handshake, which the Soun reciprocated, delighting the audience.

This display of affection comes amid controversy surrounding the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, with a proposed bill seeking to make the Alaafin of Oyo, Olubadan of Ibadan, and Soun of Ogbomoso co-chairmen, sparking debate over traditional supremacy.

The bill aims to amend the Council of Obas and Chiefs Law, allowing the three monarchs to share chairmanship responsibilities.

The book chronicles the known and hidden features of the State from time immemorial and the renown pace-setting status of Oyo in the comity of states in Nigeria.

The Chief Host and Chief Presenter, Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, is expected at the event. Special Guests of Honor include former Governor of the state, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and former Military Governor of the State, Major General Oladayo Popoola.

The glamorous event is also expected to be graced by the Minister of Power of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Bayo Adelabu; Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Zach Adedeji and Alhaji Ahmed Raji; Senior Advocate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Know Oyo State”, a compendium published by Safari Groups Limited, would be reviewed to the admiration and listening pleasure of those in attendance by the NUT Secretary General in the State, Comrade Kayode Salami.
