ADA Not a Threat, Just Old Wine in New Bottle – APC Chieftain

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Hon. Innocent Ajaelu, has downplayed the emergence of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), asserting that the newly formed political association poses no threat to the ruling party in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.

Speaking in Port Harcourt during an interview with Leadership, Ajaelu described ADA as a political platform led by individuals he labeled as “serial failures.” According to him, the formation of the group is driven not by any genuine ideological conviction or vision for Nigeria’s development, but by sheer political ambition.

He stated: “Let’s be honest. The people behind ADA are not new to Nigerians. These are individuals who have consistently failed in past political pursuits. Their objective isn’t national progress—it’s simply to find a vehicle to return to power.”

Ajaelu further predicted instability within the new group as the 2027 elections approach.

“Mark my words—between now and the elections, there will be internal crises within the ADA. The political gladiators involved are too self-interested to form a lasting alliance.”

He argued that a party formed so close to a general election stands little chance of challenging an entrenched ruling party like the APC.

“Yes, we have the right to free association. Anyone can form or join any political group. But from my experience, no political association founded barely two years before a general election has had a meaningful impact on the political landscape.”

The APC chieftain insisted that while new political groups are welcome, ADA is nothing more than a recycled effort by familiar faces.

“It’s simply old wine in a new bottle,” he said. “There’s nothing fresh or innovative about this formation. Many of the people involved have been rejected by the electorate before, and I see no indication that anything will change this time.”

Ajaelu maintained that the APC remains confident heading into the 2027 elections, and he reiterated that ADA, as presently constituted, lacks the ideological clarity and grassroots strength to pose any real challenge.
