Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State, has strongly condemned the gruesome killing of 12 residents from Kaduna in Mangun District, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Expressing profound shock and grief, the governor described the incident as a tragic and senseless act of violence against innocent travellers who were en route to a wedding in Quan Pan Local Government.

In a personally signed statement issued on Saturday, Governor Sani expressed outrage over the killings and emphasized the need for decisive action.

“We received with shock and deep sorrow news of the killing of 12 Kaduna State citizens in the troubled Mangun District of Mangu Local Government, Plateau State. 11 others sustained various degrees of injuries. These innocent travellers were simply attending a joyful event and met their untimely deaths at the hands of heartless criminals,” he lamented.

The governor condemned the killings as barbaric and unacceptable. “We condemn in the strongest terms these acts of savagery. The criminals must be fished out and dealt with accordingly. We call on security agencies to leave no stone unturned until these criminal elements are hunted down and brought to justice,” he said. “We must end the reign of non-state actors. There is no justification for attacking any Nigerian citizen anywhere in the country. This madness must stop. Enough is enough.”

Senator Sani also issued a direct appeal to Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, urging him to take firm control of the security situation and lead from the front. “He must take full charge of the situation and direct the operations of the security agencies until the murderers are brought to justice,” he asserted. “This is not the time for hesitation but for bold, decisive action.”

The Kaduna governor reiterated his personal commitment to ensuring justice is served. “I will personally follow up on the progress made in the investigations and field operations. We must send a clear signal that impunity will no longer be tolerated.”

He also called for calm and restraint among the people of Kaduna State, assuring them that justice will be pursued with all urgency and seriousness. “Let me use this opportunity to call on the citizens of Kaduna State to remain calm. All hands are on deck to ensure that our murdered citizens get justice.”

Highlighting his administration’s efforts in promoting peace, Senator Sani referenced Kaduna State’s progress in conflict resolution. “We have made remarkable progress in peace building and conflict transformation in Kaduna State.

“The Kaduna Peace Model is proof that with political will, commitment and sincerity of purpose, even a toxic environment can become an oasis of peace. The situation in Plateau State is not irredeemable. The bloodshed must stop.”

The governor concluded his statement by extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. “Our deepest condolences to the families of our citizens who lost their precious lives in Mangu Local Government. May their souls rest in peace, and may justice prevail swiftly and decisively.”
