Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Makurdi Zonal Directorate, have arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, the Special Adviser to the Benue State Governor on Documentation, Research, and Planning, over serious allegations of sextortion and cyberbullying.

According to a statement from the commission, Dr. Aondona was apprehended on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, following multiple petitions filed by female university students.

The complainants accused the governor’s aide of engaging in a disturbing pattern of unethical and criminal conduct, including sexual exploitation, blackmail, and online harassment.

In the petitions, the victims alleged that Dr. Aondona routinely recruited young, slim, and physically attractive female students for ushering jobs under the guise of official functions.

However, it was claimed that he made sexual advances and demanded intimate relations as a precondition for selecting them for the jobs. Out of fear or coercion, some victims reportedly yielded to his demands, only to later discover that he had secretly recorded the sexual encounters without their knowledge or consent.

The situation escalated when Dr. Aondona allegedly used the secretly recorded videos to blackmail the victims. The victims stated that he repeatedly threatened to leak the videos if they refused to continue engaging in sexual acts with him. It was further reported that some of these explicit videos have been shared through various messaging platforms and may already be in public circulation.

The EFCC has confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of preliminary inquiries.

This arrest highlights the agency’s commitment to tackling crimes related to sexual exploitation and digital abuse, especially those targeting vulnerable individuals.
