Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has nominated four additional individuals for appointment as commissioners in a bid to further strengthen and complete the composition of the state’s Executive Council.

The development was officially announced in a statement issued on Sunday in Akure by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan.

The statement explained that the fresh nominations are intended to complement the initial list of twelve nominees submitted to the Ondo State House of Assembly on June 12, 2025, which are currently undergoing screening and confirmation.

The newly nominated commissioner-designates are Pastor Bola Ademuwagun, Mr. Leye Akinola, Dr. Banji Ajaka, and Mr. Adesoji Afolabi.

Their inclusion brings the total number of nominees under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration to sixteen, signaling a clear intent to form a robust and inclusive executive team capable of driving the state’s developmental agenda.

In a formal letter addressed to the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, Governor Aiyedatiwa invoked the provisions of Section 192 (1 and 2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), which authorizes state governors to appoint commissioners subject to legislative confirmation.

“In exercise of the power conferred on me by Section 192 (1&2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I wish to forward to your esteemed office the following commissioner nominees,” the governor wrote.

He went on to appeal for a speedy confirmation process by the House, stressing the importance of a timely formation of the Executive Council for the effective governance of the state.

“The nominees are for your kind consideration and confirmation by the Honourable House of Assembly. I shall be most obliged to the Honourable House for your expeditious action on this request in the overall interest of our dear state,” the letter stated.

Governor Aiyedatiwa concluded his communication with words of appreciation to the Assembly members, saying, “Please accept, as always, my highest regards for your esteemed self and other distinguished members of the House.”
