Lagos State authorities have intensified their efforts to reclaim public spaces, as the Environmental and Special Offences Taskforce arrested 84 individuals during a major enforcement operation in Agege on Friday, June 20, 2025.

The operation, which targeted street dwellers and unauthorized occupants, was part of the government’s ongoing environmental cleanup and public order campaign. According to the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the enforcement exercise covered several locations, including the Ojurin railway corridor, Isale Oja, Oke Koto, and AP in the Agege area, as well as nearby adjoining streets.

The Commissioner emphasized that the operation was not a one-off but part of a broader statewide mission to ensure environmental sanity and public safety. He assured that all individuals arrested during the operation would face legal proceedings.

“All suspects will be charged to court in line with the law,” he said, stressing that Lagos State would continue to enforce strict regulations to curb the misuse of public infrastructure and restore order in communities.

The Commissioner also reiterated the government’s determination to sustain such operations across other parts of the state, urging residents to support the efforts to maintain cleanliness, security, and decency in public spaces.
