The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has explained why it has yet to commence its campaign for the November 8, 2025 governorship election in Anambra State.
According to the party, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who is seeking re-election under its platform, has deliberately chosen to prioritise the ongoing infrastructural transformation across the state over political campaigning.
This position was made public in a statement issued in Awka on Thursday by Dr Ejimofor Opara, the National Publicity Secretary of APGA. He noted that while some political parties have already kicked off their campaigns following the electoral timetable, APGA’s strategic delay is a result of Soludo’s commitment to governance and delivery of key projects.
“Ever since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) released the final list of candidates and officially flagged off the campaign period on June 11, only a handful of the 16 registered political parties have begun their campaigns,” Opara observed.
“Many people have reached out to me, wondering why APGA has yet to begin its campaign activities. The reason is simple: Governor Soludo is focused on completing critical projects within a timeline he has set for himself and his team.”
Opara stressed that launching into campaign mode at this time would only serve as a distraction from the ongoing developmental efforts that Anambra residents are currently witnessing. “There are deadlines that the governor and his administration—known as the Solution Team—must meet. Diverting attention to politics now would undermine those efforts, and the people will not accept excuses,” he explained.
Highlighting the unprecedented transformation taking place across the state, Opara said, “From the north to the south, east to west, Soludo is leaving behind indelible footprints of infrastructural development. This is the first time in Anambra’s history that citizens will have the opportunity to evaluate a government’s performance based on tangible, widespread achievements rather than mere promises or political propaganda.”
He added that APGA remains confident in the strength of its platform and the record of the incumbent. “Our political vehicle is in good condition, and the road ahead is clear. Governor Soludo is working diligently, and we in the party stand fully behind his decision to remain focused on governance for now,” Opara said.
According to him, when the time is right, APGA will roll out a well-organised campaign rooted in facts, achievements, and the real needs of Anambra people.
