Keating’s case dropped. A court case against England goalkeeper Khiara Keating has been dropped nearly a year after she pleaded not guilty to possessing canisters of nitrous oxide. The 20-year-old Manchester City goalkeeper was charged with possession of a Class C drug on June 18, 2024, following an investigation by Greater Manchester Police. Keating and her mother, Nicola Keating, 48, were jointly charged and appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court in July, where they both denied the offense.

Keating expressed her relief and gratitude that the charges have been dropped to the press. “I’m relieved the charges have been dropped,” she said. “As I’ve always said, I did nothing wrong. It’s been a difficult time, but I’ve always known the truth. Now I’m just looking forward to focusing fully on the Euros and spending time with my family.”

The case was discontinued after Greater Manchester Police confirmed that it had been dropped. Keating’s focus now shifts to her upcoming tournament, Euro 2025, where she will represent England as part of the 23-player squad. Despite not having made an appearance for the senior team yet, Keating has shown impressive skills on the field, becoming the youngest player to win the Women’s Super League Golden Glove award last year.

Keating’s achievement was notable, with nine clean sheets in 22 league games for Manchester City, helping the team finish second in the Women’s Super League title race.
