A viral video circulating on social media has sparked hope and excitement among many, claiming that Saudi Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, famously known as the “Sleeping Prince,” has finally woken up after spending nearly two decades in a coma. However, fact-checking reveals that the claim is entirely false.

The prince has been in a coma since 2005, following a traumatic brain injury sustained in a car accident while studying at a military college in the UK. Despite medical advice in 2015 to discontinue life support, Prince Khaled bin Talal, the prince’s father, refused, holding onto the hope for a miracle. “If God had wanted him to die in the accident, he would have already been buried,” he said, expressing his faith in his son’s recovery.

The viral video, which shows a man in a hospital bed responding to people around him, is actually of Yazeed Mohamed Al-Rajhi, a Saudi billionaire and motorsport personality, recovering from an accident. Al-Rajhi was injured in a car crash during the Baja Jordan rally in April 2025 and was hospitalized for treatment. His official rally team, Yazeed Racing, confirmed the incident and shared updates on his recovery, including videos of him interacting with loved ones from his hospital bed.

Despite the misinformation circulating online, there is no credible evidence to suggest that Prince Al-Waleed has regained consciousness. The prince’s condition remains unchanged, with minor movements in the past, such as raising a finger or slight head movements, sparking hope but not indicating meaningful recovery or awareness. As of June 2025, no official statement or credible media report has indicated that the prince has woken up from his coma.

It’s worth noting that the “Sleeping Prince” has been the subject of similar misinformation in the past, with false claims of his recovery going viral on social media. However, the truth remains that Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal continues to rely on life support and remains in a vegetative state, with his family holding onto hope for his recovery.
