The Ondo State House of Assembly is set to commence the screening of commissioner-nominees submitted by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for confirmation into the State Executive Council.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, disclosed this during the Assembly’s plenary session held on Wednesday in Akure, the state capital. He stated that the exercise would be carried out by the Committee of the Whole House in accordance with legislative procedures.
According to Oladiji, the screening process will begin today, Thursday, and will continue in phases on Friday and the following Monday, ensuring each nominee is given adequate time for assessment.
“The commissioner-nominees forwarded by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will undergo a rigorous screening exercise under my leadership and that of the entire House,” the Speaker said. He further directed all nominees to appear before the Assembly with at least 40 copies of their curriculum vitae and academic certificates.
Also speaking at the plenary, the House Majority Leader, Hon. Oshati Olatunji, moved the motion to refer the governor’s letter containing the list of nominees to the Committee of the Whole House for further legislative action. He emphasized the lawmakers’ commitment to a transparent and credible screening process.
“As elected representatives of the people of Ondo State, we owe it to our constituents to scrutinize each nominee thoroughly before confirming their appointments. The exercise will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday,” he stated.
Governor Aiyedatiwa had earlier, on June 12, forwarded the names of twelve individuals for consideration as commissioners. The nominees are expected to fill various portfolios within the State Executive Council, subject to confirmation by the Assembly.
The nominees include: Sunday Olajide
Amidu Takuro

Oluwaseun Abosede Osamaye
Wale Akinlosotu

The outcome of the screening will determine whether these individuals will join the cabinet and help drive the governor’s policy agenda for the state.
