The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) and the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF) are set to co-host a Technical Coaches’ Course for no fewer than 25 taekwondo coaches from across the country.

The week-long program, scheduled from Sunday, June 22 to Friday, June 28, 2025, will take place at the Velodrome in Package ‘A’ of the MKO Abiola National Stadium Sports Complex in Abuja.

This initiative, part of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) global educational programs through Olympic Solidarity and in collaboration with World Taekwondo, aims to equip coaches with cutting-edge tools and knowledge to advance taekwondo development in Nigeria.

Participants, drawn from State Sports Councils, Commissions, and higher institutions nationwide, are expected to arrive on June 22 and depart on June 28.

The course will be led by Mr. Tae Sung Kwon, an international taekwondo expert from Seoul, South Korea, appointed by the International Federation.

The training is designed to enhance coaches’ mastery of modern coaching techniques, tactical awareness, and adaptability to evolving international standards, aligning with the IOC’s commitment to fostering clean, healthy, and high-performance athletes.

Key focus areas include deepening technical expertise, fostering strategic thinking, and encouraging collaboration among coaches, athletes, and officials.

The program also aims to promote networking opportunities to strengthen Nigeria’s taekwondo ecosystem.

Administratively, the course will be coordinated by NOC Assistant Secretary, Dolapo Rofiat, ensuring smooth execution of the event while the course will be opened by NOC President, Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel.
