Sani Sidi, former Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and a long-time political associate of former Vice President Namadi Sambo, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.

Sidi, accompanied by a large crowd of his loyal supporters, was received into the ruling party on Tuesday at a grand event held at the Kaduna Trade Fair Complex. The reception was hosted by Governor Uba Sani, who led other high-ranking APC officials in welcoming the defectors.

Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Sani commended Sidi for his decision, attributing it to the current administration’s inclusive leadership and commitment to justice. “Muhammad Sani Sidi has returned to the APC because of the way we are governing Kaduna State—with fairness, justice, and attention to the genuine needs of our people,” the governor said.

He further assured that the APC will treat both new and existing members equitably, emphasizing that the party remains open to all who are committed to progress and development.

Also present at the event were notable APC figures, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, and the Minister of Environment, Malam Balarabe Abbas, among others.

Sani Sidi’s political journey has seen notable shifts between the two major parties. In 2019, after failing to clinch the PDP’s governorship ticket, which was eventually won by Isa Ashiru, he defected to the APC for the first time.

However, by 2022, he rejoined the PDP in a ceremony held at the party’s secretariat in Kaduna Central Senatorial District, where his return was formally recognized.

His latest move marks another political realignment as Kaduna prepares for future political contests, and underscores the shifting allegiances that continue to shape the state’s political landscape.
