President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday paid a condolence visit to Benue State in the wake of recent deadly attacks that have claimed over a hundred lives and left several communities devastated, particularly in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area.

Arriving at exactly 12:58 p.m. at the Tactical Air Command of the Nigerian Air Force Base in Makurdi, the President was received by Governor Hyacinth Alia and other senior government officials. His visit marks a significant gesture and his first on-the-ground response since the resurgence of violence in the state.

While in the state capital, President Tinubu visited victims currently receiving treatment in the hospital. He sympathized with the wounded and their families, offering words of comfort and assuring them of the federal government’s commitment to supporting their recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Accompanied by Governor Alia and members of his delegation, the President also held consultations with local leaders and security agencies. He emphasized the need for collective and sustained efforts to bring an end to the cycle of violence that has plagued the state for years.

President Tinubu underscored the importance of a comprehensive and inclusive approach to peacebuilding—one that integrates security interventions with socio-economic development and community reconciliation.

His visit comes amid heightened public concern and national mourning, as citizens continue to demand decisive action to address the insecurity in Benue and other affected regions.

By stepping into the state personally, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to restore peace, protect lives, and ensure justice for all affected communities.
