Rivers United Football Club has officially launched its preparations for the upcoming 2025/2026 season, aiming to build on their strong second-place finish in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The team held its first full training session on Monday at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, with approximately 25 players participating under the leadership of Technical Manager Finidi George.
Coach Finidi welcomed the players back from their offseason break, urging them to mentally and physically prepare for the challenges ahead. “It’s time to get ourselves ready for the task ahead. Welcome back,” he said during the session.
Having secured a spot in the prestigious CAF Champions League, Rivers United is intensifying efforts to refine their skills and tactics for the continental competition.
While the CAF draw is yet to be announced, the team is diligently preparing to face any opponent. The first phase of training, involving both players and technical staff, is underway as the club gears up for the NPFL season, set to commence in August.
Rivers United is poised to make a strong impact in both the CAF Champions League and the domestic league, with high expectations for an outstanding performance in the upcoming season.
