Team Nigeria’s men’s squad will join six other African nations—Egypt, Libya, Kenya, Algeria, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe—in a fierce competition for one of two qualification spots for the 2026 World Sitting Volleyball Championship in Hangzhou, China, scheduled for July 10-17.
The championship will showcase Africa’s top sitting volleyball talent, with teams vying for continental supremacy. Nigeria’s preparations for the event remain under wraps, as the Nigeria Volleyball Federation has yet to release details on the team’s training or roster. In the women’s category, four countries—Kenya, Congo, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe—have confirmed participation, while Burundi, South Africa, and Uganda are yet to finalize their entries. Rwanda, a powerhouse in African sitting volleyball, is gearing up for the championship with high ambitions. Ranked second in Africa for men and first for women, Rwanda’s national team, under head coach Mosaad Elaiuty, began a 15-day residential training camp in Kigali on Monday.
