A fresh wave of insecurity has struck Kaduna State as heavily armed bandits abducted the wife and teenage son of the Village Head of Doka Avong, located in Kufana District of Kajuru Local Government Area.

The attack reportedly occurred in the early hours of Saturday, June 14, 2025, around 1:00 a.m., when a large number of gunmen invaded the village chief’s residence under the cover of darkness.

In the course of the invasion, the attackers forcefully took away the village head’s wife, identified as 38-year-old Deborah Jonah, and his 14-year-old son, Maxwell Jonah.

The incident was formally communicated to traditional authorities in a letter addressed to the Agom of Kufana Chiefdom and signed by Mr. Stephen Maikori, the Overseer of Kufana District. In the letter, Mr. Maikori expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation, noting that the brazen attack had triggered fear and anxiety among residents.

“This unfortunate event has caused widespread fear and anxiety within the community,” he stated. “In light of the above, I respectfully call for the urgent intervention of relevant security agencies to enhance surveillance and fortify security in and around Doka Avong and the entire Kufana District.”

Maikori also emphasized the urgent need for “prompt and decisive action” to avert further tragedies, protect lives and property, and restore public confidence in the area’s safety.

The incident marks yet another troubling episode in Kajuru Local Government, which has in recent years suffered repeated assaults from armed groups targeting rural communities. The continued insecurity has raised serious concerns among residents and traditional leaders alike.

In response to the latest development, community leaders are calling on security agencies to urgently deploy personnel to the affected areas to prevent further attacks and ensure the safe return of the abducted victims.
