Several notorious terrorist commanders operating in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State have voluntarily laid down their arms and released a group of kidnapped victims, marking a major breakthrough in the fight against insurgency and banditry.
The disarmament took place on June 14, 2025, as part of an ongoing peace and rehabilitation initiative aimed at encouraging terrorist groups to disengage from criminal activities.
Prominent among those who surrendered were known kingpins identified as Kamulu Buzaru, Manore, Nagwaggo, Lalbi, Alhaji Sani, Dogo Baidu, Dogo Nahalle, and Abdulkadir Black.
These individuals officially handed over their weapons to authorities and pledged to permanently abandon their involvement in banditry.
According to intelligence and security analyst Zagazola Makama, the surrendering group also released 16 abducted individuals—comprising seven women and nine children—as a demonstration of their commitment to the peace process. In a further assurance, the group vowed to release all remaining captives in their custody by June 15, 2025.
The freed victims were immediately transferred to officials of the local government for appropriate care, psychological support, and rehabilitation.
Authorities have expressed optimism that this development could mark a significant step toward restoring lasting peace in Katsina State and other parts of the North-West.
The arms surrender program is part of a broader state-led strategy to restore stability through dialogue and non-military conflict resolution, while also providing pathways for repentance and reintegration of former militants into society.
