In a renewed effort to enhance internal security and rid Kaduna State of criminal activities, the Kaduna State Police Command has launched a large-scale clampdown on criminal hideouts and black spots across the state. The operation, which is ongoing, has already led to the arrest of 183 suspected criminals in various communities.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a press briefing. He explained that the crackdown is part of a broader strategy initiated by the Command under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, aimed at restoring public confidence and safeguarding lives and property.

According to DSP Hassan, the suspects were apprehended in a series of coordinated raids led by Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in major metropolitan areas including Rigasa, Kawo, Tudun Wada, Sabon Tasha, and other adjoining communities. These areas were specifically targeted due to their history of being criminal flashpoints.

During the operations, police recovered an array of dangerous weapons and narcotic substances. A notable success was recorded on June 13, 2025, when operatives raided several locations in the Rigasa area. The search led to the seizure of illicit drugs, including 30 bags and approximately 1,600 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, along with other prohibited items.

In a separate incident the same night at about 11:45 p.m., residents of Rafin Guza reported a suspicious bag abandoned during a police pursuit of suspected criminals. Upon inspection, the bag was found to contain an AK-47 magazine loaded with 31 rounds of live ammunition.

DSP Hassan noted that investigations are currently underway to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for abandoning the ammunition. He assured the public that the perpetrators will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

In another breakthrough, on June 9, 2025, around 11:00 a.m., operatives from the Kakuri Police Division, acting on a reliable tip-off, posed as potential buyers and arrested a 35-year-old suspect identified as Ziya Abdullah. Abdullah was allegedly attempting to sell a vehicle suspected to have been stolen.

Further interrogation led to the arrest of his accomplice, one Bashir Usman, popularly known as “Yellow.” The duo confessed to robbing a residence in the Gona area, using knives and cutlasses, and making away with a Honda Accord vehicle. The stolen car was later recovered in Zaria.

The police have intensified efforts to track down other members of the robbery gang who are currently on the run. DSP Hassan confirmed that several of the arrested suspects have already been charged to court, while others remain in custody and are undergoing detailed investigations.

He emphasized that those found culpable will be prosecuted promptly and in line with legal provisions.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, has reiterated the Command’s steadfast commitment to fighting crime in all forms. He called on residents to remain vigilant and to provide timely and credible information that could aid ongoing police operations.

CP Muhammad also assured the public of the Command’s readiness to maintain peace and security across Kaduna State, urging citizens to continue cooperating with security agencies for a safer environment.
