The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has announced that it will officially commence its campaign for the upcoming July 12 Local Government Elections on Tuesday, with a grand presentation of party flags to its candidates.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, the official flag-off ceremony is scheduled to take place at the APC State Secretariat located in Ogba. The event will be attended by prominent party leaders, including elected representatives and appointed officials from across the three tiers of government.
Oladejo revealed that the campaign strategy has been thoughtfully decentralised across Lagos State’s three Senatorial Districts—Lagos East, Central, and West. Due to its extensive size and population, Lagos West has been further subdivided to allow for more targeted and effective outreach.
“The campaign will be deeply grassroots-oriented,” Oladejo explained. “To ensure effective mobilisation, the party has already instructed leaders at the local government level to establish Local Organising Committees (LOCs). These committees will be responsible for taking the campaign into every corner of the state, covering all communities, neighbourhoods, and wards.”
The APC campaign, he stated, will highlight the impactful and unprecedented achievements of the outgoing council administrations. These include various development projects and timely social intervention programmes that have benefited residents across the local councils.
The campaign will also focus on the party’s commitment to continuity and its pledge to deliver even greater service in alignment with its progressive ideology.
Oladejo encouraged all eligible voters in the state to exercise their civic duty by turning out en masse to vote on election day, emphasizing the importance of democratic participation at the grassroots level.
He further noted that the campaign will officially conclude a day before the July 12 elections, in line with Nigeria’s electoral regulations.
Recall that the APC concluded its primary elections on May 10, during which its Chairmanship, Vice Chairmanship, and Councillorship candidates were selected. These candidates will represent the party across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs), the 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and all 377 wards within the state.
