The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit regulation.

The new deadline is now set for August 12, 2025, providing additional time for citizens to comply and for the application process to be further optimized.

This decision follows a wave of public feedback and concerns over the recent reactivation of the digital application system. In response, the Nigeria Police Force has reiterated its commitment to transparent, inclusive, and citizen-oriented policing.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extension reflects the Police’s readiness to listen and respond to the concerns of Nigerians.

He emphasized that public input has been instrumental in guiding ongoing reforms to make the application system more secure, accessible, and user-friendly.

ACP Adejobi explained that the extension will allow the Police additional time to implement system upgrades aimed at streamlining the process, enhancing verification measures, and minimizing delays and inconveniences for applicants. He noted that efforts are being made to improve both physical and contactless application options for greater ease and efficiency.

The public is reminded that the only authorized platform for applying for or renewing the Tinted Glass Permit is via the Police Specialized Services Automation Project (POSSAP) portal: www.possap.gov.ng.

Citizens are also encouraged to report any unauthorized charges, hidden fees, or instances of extortion encountered during the application or biometric capture process. Complaints should be directed to the appropriate Police authorities or reported via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

Reaffirming the Force’s dedication to public safety, digital innovation, and continuous service improvement, ACP Adejobi expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their patience and cooperation as the reforms continue.
