The Chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan, has confirmed that head coach Gbenga Ogunbote will honor his existing contract with the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side.

In an exclusive interview with sports journalist Tobi Ajewole, Olaniyan expressed disappointment over the team’s failure to secure a continental ticket for CAF interclub competitions in the second half of the 2024/25 NPFL season. “We had a fairly good start last season, but injuries to five key players disrupted our campaign,” he said. “We’ve already begun preparations to strengthen the squad with better players to ensure a stronger start next season. The technical crew is working tirelessly to achieve this.”

Addressing Ogunbote’s future, Olaniyan revealed that the coach is committed to the club. “After the season, we held a management meeting where Ogunbote confirmed he wants to respect his two-season contract. We’ve started planning for the next season together. Should anything change, he will inform us,” the chairman stated.

Olaniyan also extended gratitude to 3SC’s supporters, apologizing for the team’s inability to secure a continental spot. “We will keep working until we achieve our goals and make the club a contender again,” he pledged.

The Oluyole Warriors are now focused on rebuilding and aiming for success in the upcoming NPFL season.
