Nigerian businessman Simon Guobadia has suffered a significant legal setback in his ongoing divorce from Porsha Williams, reality TV star and former cast member of The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA). A U.S. court has ruled in favor of Williams, enforcing a prenuptial agreement that will see Guobadia part with a portion of his wealth, including a stake in his multimillion-dollar home.

The embattled 61-year-old, who recently returned to Nigeria after facing immigration issues in the United States, is now required to split the equity in his $7 million marital home and also cover significant debts and expenses for the benefit of his estranged wife, according to court filings reported by US Weekly.

The couple, who tied the knot in November 2022, had signed a prenuptial agreement prior to their marriage. However, the enforceability of the document became a point of legal contention after Porsha Williams filed for divorce in February 2024, just 15 months into the marriage.

Williams, 43, alleged irreconcilable differences, while Guobadia contested the divorce and prenup enforcement, citing “misrepresentations” by Williams. He argued that he only agreed to the terms because she claimed she was stepping away from the RHOA franchise — a decision that later changed, as she returned to the spotlight.

Court records reveal that the prenup agreement, once considered solid, became the battleground for a high-profile legal drama involving wealth division, property rights, and spousal financial obligations. The ruling now compels Guobadia to surrender part of the equity in the Atlanta mansion the couple shared and foot several bills tied to Williams’ expenses during the course of the marriage.

The court proceedings were delayed multiple times due to Guobadia’s arrest and detainment by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) earlier in 2025. Though the details of his immigration case remain undisclosed, his detainment added another layer of public scrutiny and slowed the pace of legal filings.

Guobadia, a dual citizen with business interests in both the United States and Nigeria, reportedly returned to his home country after being released, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions surrounding his legal and immigration status in the U.S.

Simon Guobadia and Porsha Williams’ relationship initially made headlines in 2021 when the pair announced their engagement just weeks after Guobadia finalized his divorce from RHOA castmate Falynn Pina. The whirlwind romance drew media attention, both for its speed and controversy, and culminated in a lavish two-part wedding that blended American and Nigerian traditions.

Despite the glamorous wedding and grand displays of affection on social media, the couple’s marriage quickly unraveled. Insiders close to the situation suggest that trust issues, financial disagreements, and media pressure played significant roles in their marital breakdown.

With the prenup now enforced, Guobadia is not only facing a major financial hit but also the loss of his U.S.-based lifestyle, given his uncertain immigration status. Meanwhile, Porsha Williams has returned to her media career and is reportedly in talks for new reality TV projects.

Legal analysts note that this ruling may serve as a cautionary tale for high-net-worth individuals entering marriages with reality stars, where brand image, public scrutiny, and financial expectations collide.
