The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has announced a major military success in Zamfara State, where troops of the Mobile Strike Team (MST) under Operation Fasin Yamma (OPFY) carried out a high-impact offensive against terrorist elements.
The operation, which took place on June 10, 2025, around Ƙunchin Kalgo in Tsafe Local Government Area, resulted in the elimination of several high-profile terrorists.
In a press briefing delivered on June 12, Major General Markus Kangye, the Director of Defence Media Operations, emphasized that the mission delivered a severe blow to terror networks operating in the area.
He revealed that the offensive led to the deaths of notorious figures such as Auta, Abdul Jamilu, and Salisu—individuals long associated with a string of violent incidents and criminal activities in Zamfara and surrounding regions.
Preliminary intelligence from the operation further disclosed the neutralization of two additional terrorist leaders. One of them has been identified as Babayé, underscoring the operation’s effectiveness in dismantling command structures within these groups.
In a separate but closely connected engagement, military forces reported the death of Sale Ado Madele, also known by the alias Sarki. He was the eldest son of the infamous bandit kingpin, Ado Alieru.
The military also intercepted and neutralized ten armed terrorists who had assembled near a filling station in Danjibga. These individuals were suspected to be part of a terror cell aligned with Dogo Sule, allegedly planning a coordinated attack.
“This is a significant step forward in our campaign to restore peace and stability in Zamfara and across the North-West,” General Kangye stated. “The outcome of this operation sends a clear message to all criminal factions that their reign of violence is coming to an end.”
The Armed Forces reaffirmed their ongoing commitment to eradicating terrorism and criminal activities across the region. The statement concluded by reinforcing the military’s determination to destroy all terror strongholds and ensure the safety and security of citizens.
