President Tinubu Salutes Former Bauchi Governor Mu’azu at 70, Lauds His Statesmanship and Democratic Legacy
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his heartfelt congratulations to former Bauchi State Governor and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
The President paid glowing tribute to the elder statesman, celebrating his enduring legacy in public service and his contributions to Nigeria’s democratic evolution.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu hailed Mu’azu as a distinguished leader whose career in politics and governance was marked by integrity, dignity, and remarkable accomplishments.
Reflecting on their shared time in office, President Tinubu recalled the early years of Nigeria’s Fourth Republic, during which both he and Mu’azu served as state governors from 1999 to 2007.
Tinubu described that period as a crucial chapter in the country’s democratic rebirth and commended Mu’azu for demonstrating visionary leadership during those formative years of civil governance.
“Governor Mu’azu distinguished himself through impactful policies in the areas of education, healthcare, and infrastructure development in Bauchi State,” Tinubu noted. “His governance style was people-focused and forward-looking, laying a solid foundation for the state’s growth and progress.”
The President also recognized Mu’azu’s instrumental role in one of Nigeria’s most peaceful political transitions in recent history. Highlighting the 2015 general elections, Tinubu praised Mu’azu for prioritizing national interest over partisan loyalty when his party lost at the polls.
“Despite the outcome, you demonstrated maturity and upheld the values of democracy, contributing to a smooth and historic transfer of power,” he said.
President Tinubu concluded his birthday message by wishing the elder statesman continued wellness, fulfillment, and tranquility in the years ahead.
He emphasized that Mu’azu’s legacy serves as an enduring inspiration to both emerging leaders and seasoned politicians across the nation.
