Air Peace has issued a strong condemnation of what it describes as the unruly and violent behavior exhibited by Senator Adams Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State and the current representative of Edo North in the Nigerian Senate.

The airline’s statement followed the emergence of a viral video showing the senator reacting aggressively after reportedly missing a scheduled flight from Lagos to Abuja on Wednesday.

According to Air Peace, the incident occurred at the Zulu Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos on the morning of June 11, 2025. The airline detailed that Senator Oshiomhole arrived at the terminal around 6:10 a.m. for Flight P47120, which was scheduled to depart for Abuja at 6:30 a.m.

However, in accordance with the airline’s strict on-time departure policy, boarding for the flight had already closed by the time he arrived, and the aircraft took off as scheduled.

The airline alleges that upon being informed that he had missed the flight, the senator reacted violently. “He resorted to physically assaulting our staff and forcefully barricaded the terminal’s entrance,” Air Peace stated.

“The individual even went as far as sealing off the entry gate and personally manning the access point, thereby preventing other passengers from entering the terminal.”

Air Peace noted that the senator’s actions caused significant disruption to airport operations and inconvenienced numerous travelers scheduled for other flights.

In response to the incident, the airline quickly implemented a contingency plan to relocate affected passengers to an alternative terminal, ensuring their travel plans were not entirely derailed.

In its statement, the airline expressed deep disappointment over the behavior of such a prominent public figure, describing it as “unbecoming and disruptive” not only to airline staff but also to fellow passengers.

“We are saddened that a high-profile Nigerian would exhibit such conduct in a public setting,” the statement read. “Air Peace maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward violence or any form of aggression directed at our employees or customers.”

Emphasizing its commitment to safety and operational discipline, Air Peace urged all passengers to exercise civility and patience when interacting with airline personnel or during travel disruptions.

“Aviation operations are governed by strict timelines and safety procedures. We appeal to all guests to remain respectful and cooperative, regardless of their status or position,” the airline said.

Air Peace reaffirmed its values of integrity, discipline, and respect for due process. “No individual, no matter how influential or prominent, is above these principles,” the airline declared. “We will continue to uphold our standards in the face of any challenge, ensuring safe and timely service for all.”
