In a heartfelt announcement, Coach Aliyu Zubairu has bid an emotional farewell to El Kanemi Warriors Football Club of Maiduguri, concluding a remarkable two-year stint that revitalized the club’s standing in Nigerian football.
Zubairu’s departure marks the end of a transformative era, leaving behind a legacy of achievement and renewed pride for the club’s supporters.
In a poignant farewell letter addressed to the club’s management, players, fans, and the people of Borno State, Zubairu expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to lead the team. Under his stewardship, El Kanemi Warriors secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), clinched a historic victory in the President Federation Cup (FA Cup), and solidified their status in the top flight. “After careful consideration, I’ve decided not to renew my contract, which expires at the end of my two-year tenure,” Zubairu wrote, citing confidence in his contributions to the club’s growth.
Zubairu’s connection to El Kanemi Warriors runs deep, having donned the club’s colors as a player before taking the helm as coach. His strategic vision and leadership were instrumental in reestablishing the team as a formidable force in Nigerian football.
