I have told the president publicly that my loyalty is to God first, and then to him. When a man entrusts you with the kind of confidence that Tinubu has shown in me, it would be nothing short of evil to betray that

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has reiterated his unwavering loyalty to both God and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that he takes instructions solely from the two.

Speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Umahi emphasized the depth of trust reposed in him by President Tinubu, especially in light of a recent commendation from the president on his performance in infrastructure development.

According to Umahi, the president’s acknowledgment meant more to him than material wealth. “The commendation from President Tinubu is worth more than a trillion dollars to me,” he said. “It affirms that I am on the right path and that God indeed answers prayers.”

He noted that such recognition carries spiritual and moral weight, declaring, “I have told the president publicly that my loyalty is to God first, and then to him. When a man entrusts you with the kind of confidence that Tinubu has shown in me, it would be nothing short of evil to betray that.”

Umahi issued a stern warning to those who might consider betraying the president’s trust, stating that such actions would bring divine repercussions. “Anyone who betrays Tinubu after receiving this level of trust and support is inviting the wrath of God,” he warned.

To illustrate the level of autonomy and faith vested in him, Umahi recounted a significant example involving a major procurement process.

“Imagine presiding over the procurement of a project worth ₦1.6 trillion, and your boss never once calls to question your process. That speaks volumes about the level of confidence the president has in me,” he said, referencing just one section of an ongoing project.

The minister offered a heartfelt prayer, saying, “Every day, I pray to God that if I ever put myself, my family, or friends above God, President Tinubu, and the interests of Nigerians, may He not answer my prayers.”
