Hoodlum Kills Senior Military Officer in Botched Robbery

A tragic incident occurred in Kaduna where Lieutenant Commodore M. Buba, a senior military officer, was fatally stabbed by a hoodlum while trying to change a flat tire on his vehicle.

The attack took place at Kawo Bridge as the officer was returning to the Armed Forces and Command Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, where he was undergoing a course.

Eyewitnesses reported that Lieutenant Commodore Buba’s vehicle suffered a flat tire en route to Jaji. As he alighted to replace the tire, an unknown assailant suddenly approached him and demanded his mobile phone and other valuables.

When the officer questioned the demand, refusing to hand over his possessions, the attacker stabbed him in the chest with a locally made knife.

Suleiman Dahiru, a local vigilante who witnessed the attack, rushed to assist the wounded officer but was also injured in the process when the assailant stabbed him in the hand. The attacker was eventually overpowered and mobbed by bystanders, who reportedly killed him on the spot.

Following the assault, Lieutenant Commodore Buba was rushed to Manaal Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body was later transferred to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital mortuary in Kaduna for further procedures.

A senior military official, who requested anonymity, confirmed the events and expressed deep sorrow over the loss. In response to the incident, security agencies including troops in plain clothes, the police, and civil security operatives have been mobilized to conduct covert operations aimed at identifying and apprehending criminals frequenting vulnerable areas such as bus stops and other known trouble spots within Kaduna metropolis.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the attack, describing it as an unfortunate incident. He reassured the public that efforts are underway to enhance security measures across the state to prevent similar occurrences.
