Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has extended financial support to pilgrims from the state participating in the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Each of the over 2,000 Bauchi pilgrims received a donation of 300 Saudi Riyals, equivalent to approximately ₦124,000, from the governor during his visit to their camp in Mina.

The gesture, aimed at easing the financial burden of the pilgrims, was announced by the governor as he commended them for their dedication and resilience throughout the rigorous Hajj rites.

“I am aware of the sacrifices you have made over the past few days in your pursuit of religious fulfillment. As a mark of encouragement and solidarity, I am donating 300 Riyals to each of you,” Governor Mohammed stated.

While addressing the pilgrims, the governor appealed to them to offer prayers for Nigeria, urging divine intervention for peace, good governance, and sincere leadership in the country.

He emphasised the contrast between the efficient organisation of the Hajj by Saudi authorities and the challenges faced in Nigeria, noting that the success of the pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia serves as a model of what can be achieved through effective governance.

“We urge you to pray for peace in our nation, for an end to dishonest politics, and for the emergence of genuine, selfless leaders,” he said.

In addition, Governor Mohammed called on the pilgrims to specifically remember Bauchi State in their prayers. He stressed the importance of continued peace, security, and unity among the people of the state.

He also praised the officials of the Bauchi State Pilgrims Welfare Board for their effective coordination and for ensuring a smooth and orderly pilgrimage experience.

The governor lauded the pilgrims themselves for exhibiting commendable discipline and responsible behavior throughout the sacred rites.

Furthermore, Governor Mohammed expressed heartfelt condolences over the loss of a pilgrim from Ganjuwa Local Government Area, who passed away on the Day of Arafah.

He described the incident as profoundly saddening and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul, while extending sympathy to the bereaved family and community.
