NLNG Unveils Human Capital Development for Train 7 Project

As part of its enduring commitment to Nigerian content development and youth empowerment, the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has officially launched the Train 7 Project Human Capital Development (HCD) Basic Training Supplementary Programme in Port Harcourt.

The launch event, held at the prestigious Hotel Presidential, attracted high-level dignitaries and stakeholders from the energy sector, including representatives of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), led by Tarilate Teide-Bribena, Manager, Human Capital Development, as well as members of the NLNG Management Team, training facilitators, and a new cohort of beneficiaries.

The newly introduced supplementary training programme builds on the foundation of the original Train 7 HCD Basic Training Programme, offering a broader and more robust learning experience.

The expansion includes two distinct learning tracks: structured classroom-based theoretical modules and hands-on, field-based practical training.

Together, these elements are designed to equip participants with both industry-relevant knowledge and technical competence, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for the demands of Nigeria’s dynamic oil and gas industry.

Each component of the training is guided by a carefully developed curriculum, complete with milestones that track progress and evaluate performance, reinforcing NLNG’s commitment to high-quality, skills-based education.

Delivering the keynote address, Engr. Dagogo Buowari (FNSE), NLNG’s Nigerian Content Development Manager, described the programme as a milestone achievement in the company’s broader mission to build capacity within Nigeria’s local workforce.

“This initiative further strengthens NLNG’s role in supporting Nigerian content development, especially within the ongoing Train 7 Project. We are proud to sustain this momentum in collaboration with the NCDMB, whose visionary support continues to drive human capital development across Nigeria,” he stated.

Buowari encouraged the participants to embrace the opportunity wholeheartedly, emphasizing the transformative potential of the programme:

“For the trainees, this is not just a learning programme—it is a launchpad for your professional journey. I urge you to commit fully, complete all required modules, and take the certification process seriously. This experience could define your future.”

The programme goes beyond technical training to provide comprehensive personal and professional support to its participants. Each trainee will be enrolled in a healthcare plan through Reliance HMO, ensuring medical coverage and wellness throughout the training period.

In addition, participants will benefit from mentorship opportunities, pairing them with seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry who will guide their career growth.

Other support services include emotional wellness counselling, mental health resources, and regular performance reviews aimed at aligning participants’ progress with their long-term aspirations. These elements reflect NLNG’s goal of developing well-rounded, resilient professionals capable of thriving in high-performance environments.

During the ceremony, Engr. Buowari also took a moment to commend the dedicated efforts of NLNG’s staff and project teams who made the expansion of the HCD programme a reality.
