Crown FC of Ogbomoso clinched a coveted spot in the Nigeria National League (NNL) 2025 Super Eight Playoffs with an electrifying 2-1 victory against Ijele FC on matchday 21 of the Southern Conference A.

The pulsating encounter, played at the iconic Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu, known as the Cathedral, showcased the Ajilete Warriors’ determination and skill, leaving fans on the edge of their seats.

The breakthrough came early in the second half when Jonathan Okechukwu rose to meet a pinpoint corner kick from Mojeed Adekunle, heading the ball into the net in the 49th minute to give Crown FC the lead.

However, Ijele FC responded swiftly, equalizing in the 58th minute and igniting hopes of a comeback. The home side’s joy was short-lived, as Mojeed Adekunle restored Crown FC’s advantage in the 71st minute with a stunning free kick that sent the traveling supporters into a frenzy.

Crown FC maintained their composure, defending resolutely to protect their lead until the final whistle. The victory sparked wild celebrations among players, officials, and fans, as Crown FC officially secured their place in the Super Eight Playoffs, a significant step toward their ambition of returning to the Nigeria Professional Football League.

Post-match, Head Coach Ayodeji Ayeni attributed the team’s success to divine guidance and unwavering focus. “From the start of the season, our goal was clear: qualify for the Super Eight and bring Crown FC back to the Elite League,” Ayeni said.

The NNL is expected to announce the official dates for the Super Eight Playoffs soon, setting the stage for Crown FC to pursue their promotion dreams.

The Ajilete Warriors’ journey continues to captivate fans, with hopes high for a triumphant return to Nigeria’s top flight.
