AAC Rejects Eno Endorsement Claims, Vows Independent Election Run

The African Action Congress (AAC) chapter in Akwa-Ibom State has officially distanced itself from recent claims that it endorsed Governor Umo Eno.

These claims reportedly originated from the state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC). The AAC has made it clear that such endorsements do not represent its position in any way.

In a statement released on Saturday, Elder Utip Etiebet, the State Chairman of the AAC, reassured members, supporters, and the wider public of the party’s firm commitment to contesting the upcoming gubernatorial, National Assembly, and State Assembly elections independently. He emphasized that the party remains focused on fielding its own candidates across all levels of government.

Elder Etiebet further stressed that the AAC has never contemplated endorsing any candidate outside its ranks. This stance is reinforced by the presence of numerous credible aspirants actively seeking nomination under the AAC banner. The party remains confident in its ability to secure victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections, alongside winning seats in both the State and National Assembly elections.

Regarding the purported endorsement, the AAC clarified that the statements made by the PDP, APC, and IPAC chairmen strictly reflect the positions of their respective parties and do not speak on behalf of the African Action Congress in Akwa-Ibom State. “The chairmen of the PDP, APC, and IPAC do not and cannot speak on behalf of the African Action Congress,” Etiebet emphasized.

The AAC also took the opportunity to reaffirm its unwavering dedication to the principles of democracy, transparency, and politics based on issues rather than personalities. The party remains committed to promoting democratic ideals and ensuring a transparent electoral process that focuses on policies and the welfare of the people.

Elder Etiebet reiterated that the African Action Congress would continue to champion the tenets of democracy in Nigeria and maintain its resolve to foster a political environment grounded in accountability, fairness, and genuine representation.
